Disciples of Jesus Christs' Memorial Parsha: Shoftim in Deuteronomy 18

Welcome to the Disciples of Jesus Christ’s Memorial Parsha of Shoftim, as we read in the book of Deuteronomy, one of five book of Moses. Parsha Shoftim is in Deuteronomy 16 through Deuteronomy 21. The Haphtarah may be read from Isaiah 51 through Isaiah 52.

We continue into Chapter Sixteen from the book of Deuteronomy, and Moses is commanding that the people would choose a judge. The idea of choosing a judge had been brought up in the Parsha Yitro (Jethro, the father of Zipphorah, the wife of Moses). (Exodus 18:13-16). However, Memorial Parsha Moses again commanded that the people choose able judges to lead the people. In this Parsha, Shoftim, Moses commands that the people ¹⁸ Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the LORD your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly. ¹⁹ Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. ²⁰ Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the LORD your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 16:18-20).

In Chapter Seventeen, in the book of Deuteronomy, Moses commands that you shall not offer any animal as a sacrifice to the LORD Thy God that has a blemish. (Deuteronomy 17:1 and Leviticus 22:20).

Next Moses commands that there shall be two witnesses to diligently determine if you have gone after the other gods to worship, transgressing the covenant of the LORD Thy God, is evil in his sight. Then you shall use the witness of the third person to put the person to death. And purge the evil from among you. (Deuteronomy 17:2-7; Deuteronomy 11:29; 27:12-13). However in the book of Judges, Abimelech went to his Mothers clans in Shechem. Abimelech had decided that he should sway the people to let him rule over the people. (Judges 9:1). However, another generation rose that knew not the LORD God. Nevertheless, Jotham stood and prophesied on Mount Gerizim that one day the people would desire more than a judge, but a King. Meanwhile the people had forsook the LORD Thy God judges 11.

Much later, Jotham speaks in a parable about the people one day desiring a King, as he spoke to the people that had revolted against his paternal clan. Then he asked the people to look presumptuously at the behavior toward Jerub-Baal. He is saying that there will be fire to consume you (the trees) so strong that a large forest would be consumed, like the trees of Lebanon, and thorn bush’s. (Judges 9:7-20). This is the story of God avenging the blood of the crime against Jerub-Baal on their brother Abimelech and on the citizens of Shechem, because they dealt treacherously with the people. Therefore, God sent an evil spirit between them; and the divisive spirit (Gaal, the son of Ebed) caused some to serve Shechem’s father, Hamor or Abimelech which is the son of Jerub-Baal. (Judges 9:30-41).

The people were repeatedly attacked by the company of Abimelech in city of Shechem, captured and destroyed the city and then salt was poured all over the streets;  which meant a person worth was in the meaning of salt, scattered throughout the city – nothing. (Judges 9:42-45). Next, Abimelech went to a city name Thebez and besieged that city, then captured it, after he had lit a fire in the temple of El-Berith, and about one-thousand men and women died. (Judges 9:46-49).  Abimelech, went into a tower, a stronghold for all the people of the city, stormed it to set on fire, but he was killed Abimelech was a lot like King Saul, the first anointed King over Israel he did not want anyone to think that a woman had killed him (Judges 9:50 and 1 Samuel 16:1). Whereas Saul didn’t want to be a Prisoner of War. (1 Samuel 31:1-6). However, King David, the branch of Jess was told by the Amelakite that he thrust Saul (the Lord’s Anointed) and did not die, and David then tore his clothes and fasted for the people of the LORD Thy God, and the house of Israel.

Since there were no righteous judges’ in the territory of Gideon, and Manasseh and Ehud would eventually clash on this endeavor because Ehud moved on the spirit of God and passed over the territories in the next chapter of the book of Judges (Judges 12). The Spirit of God, works grace, and Apostle Paul said, in Romans 8:9, "⁹You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact^(Q) the Spirit of God dwells in you.^(R) Anyone who does not have^(S) the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him." God had recompensed the wickedness that Abimelech had done to his father’s seventy sons. God also made the Shechem pay for all their wickedness.  The curse of Jotham, son of Jerub-Baal came on them.  Nevertheless, the art of warfare was important as technology in warfare is today, because warfare is a very important component in setting the battle in array. Yet, looking at the sixteenth person die in the apartment complex, I am thinking that my godly life doesn’t make a difference, yet I know that I am not perfect. I live out my life in the Spirit of God through Jesus Christ. No matter how bad things you can live a triumphant life. Most importantly you may still try to gain inner peace, know the word of God; and know the hour – to determine your will of God. Remember Jesus died for the church, bless the House of David and bless the House of Aaron. (Psalm 118:1-4).

In closing, Peter, like myself also a descendant of Aaron healed a crippled beggar at Solomon's colonade, at the Beautiful gate of the temple courts (Acts 3:2-8; and Acts 4:1-12). Then there was Stephen the first Bishop of the church was brought before the Sanhedrin. Stephen started with the gospel in the covenant of Abraham through circumcision. He was careful not to forget that Moses passed an angel in the flames of a burning bush. Moses heard the voice of the LORD, the God of your fathers.  He preached that the people resist the Holy Ghost. (Acts 7:52-53). The Apostle Stephen said, ^51(CV) "You stiff-necked people,^(CW) uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit.^(CX) As your fathers did, so do you. ^52(CY) Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of^(CZ) the Righteous One,^(DA) whom you have now betrayed and murdered, ⁵³you who received the law^(DB) as delivered by angels and^(DC) did not keep it."

Deuteronomy 17:14-17 - The King

When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you shall choose a king from among your own brothers. The King shall not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the LORD has told you, "You are not to go back that way again." The King shall not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

The instruction given here by Moses command is very important because this was the fall of a nation, too many wives, too many horses, and depending on Egypt for horses, instead of giving Assyria tribute. And so there were many factors that can lead you to stray, from the covenant and God's word. (Exodus 34:16 and 2nd Samuel 3:2-5). As you can see with the extensive DNA research provided, my family also answered to their Clan chiefs, even when a descendant of the Aaron rose to chiefdom. 1 Kings 6:1 Solomon Builds the Temple

¹ In the four hundred and eightieth ^[a] year after the Israelites had come out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the temple of the LORD. Footnotes:

Nehemiah 13:26²⁶ Was it not because of marriages like these that Solomon king of Israel sinned? Among the many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel, but even he was led into sin by foreign women. 

1^st Kings 12:1-4: Israel Rebels Against Rehoboam

 ¹ Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all the Israelites had gone there to make him king. ² When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard this (he was still in Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon), he returned from ^[a] Egypt. ³ So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and the whole assembly of Israel went to Rehoboam and said to him: ⁴ "Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but now lightens the harsh labor and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you."

2 Samuel 20:1 - The Rebellion of Sheba

 ¹Now there happened to be there^(A) a worthless man, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite. And he blew the trumpet and said, ^(B) "We have no portion in David, and we have no inheritance in the son of Jesse;^(C) every man to his tents, O Israel!"

1 Kings 12:16-20:  The Kingdom Divided

¹⁶And when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, "What portion do we have in David? Leviticus 12
 ¹And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
 ²Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
 ³And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
 ⁴And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.
 ⁵But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.
 ⁶And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:
 ⁷Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.
 ⁸And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean. (Leviticus 12, King James Version)

Leviticus 13:
 ¹And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, saying,
 ²When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, a scab, or bright spot, and it be in the skin of his flesh like the plague of leprosy; then he shall be brought unto Aaron the priest, or unto one of his sons the priests:
 ³And the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh: and when the hair in the plague is turned white, and the plague in sight be deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is a plague of leprosy: and the priest shall look on him, and pronounce him unclean.
 ⁴If the bright spot be white in the skin of his flesh, and in sight be not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof be not turned white; then the priest shall shut up him that hath the plague seven days:
 ⁵And the priest shall look on him the seventh day: and, behold, if the plague in his sight be at a stay, and the plague spread not in the skin; then the priest shall shut him up seven days more:
 ⁶And the priest shall look on him again the seventh day: and, behold, if the plague be somewhat dark, and the plague spread not in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean: it is but a scab: and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.
 ⁷But if the scab spread much abroad in the skin, after that he hath been seen of the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen of the priest again.
 ⁸And if the priest see that, behold, the scab spreadeth in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a leprosy.
 ⁹When the plague of leprosy is in a man, then he shall be brought unto the priest;
 ¹⁰And the priest shall see him: and, behold, if the rising be white in the skin, and it have turned the hair white, and there be quick raw flesh in the rising;
 ¹¹It is an old leprosy in the skin of his flesh, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean, and shall not shut him up: for he is unclean.
 ¹²And if a leprosy break out abroad in the skin, and the leprosy cover all the skin of him that hath the plague from his head even to his foot, wheresoever the priest looketh;
 ¹³Then the priest shall consider: and, behold, if the leprosy have covered all his flesh, he shall pronounce him clean that hath the plague: it is all turned white: he is clean.
 ¹⁴But when raw flesh appeareth in him, he shall be unclean.
 ¹⁵And the priest shall see the raw flesh, and pronounce him to be unclean: for the raw flesh is unclean: it is a leprosy.
 ¹⁶Or if the raw flesh turn again, and be changed unto white, he shall come unto the priest;

 ¹⁹And in the place of the boil there be a white rising, or a bright spot, white, and somewhat reddish, and it be shewed to the priest;
 ²⁰And if, when the priest seeth it, behold, it be in sight lower than the skin, and the hair thereof be turned white; the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague of leprosy broken out of the boil.
 ²¹But if the priest look on it, and, behold, there be no white hairs therein, and if it be not lower than the skin, but be somewhat dark; then the priest shall shut him up seven days:
 ²²And if it spread much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague.
 ²³But if the bright spot stay in his place, and spread not, it is a burning boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.
 ²⁴Or if there be any flesh, in the skin whereof there is a hot burning, and the quick flesh that burneth have a white bright spot, somewhat reddish, or white;
 ²⁵Then the priest shall look upon it: and, behold, if the hair in the bright spot be turned white, and it be in sight deeper than the skin; it is a leprosy broken out of the burning: wherefore the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is the plague of leprosy.
 ²⁶But if the priest look on it, and, behold, there be no white hair in the bright spot, and it be no lower than the other skin, but be somewhat dark; then the priest shall shut him up seven days:
 ²⁷And the priest shall look upon him the seventh day: and if it be spread much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is the plague of leprosy.
 ²⁸And if the bright spot stay in his place, and spread not in the skin, but it be somewhat dark; it is a rising of the burning, and the priest shall pronounce him clean: for it is an inflammation of the burning.
 ²⁹If a man or woman have a plague upon the head or the beard;
 ³⁰Then the priest shall see the plague: and, behold, if it be in sight deeper than the skin; and there be in it a yellow thin hair; then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a dry scall, even a leprosy upon the head or beard. (Leviticus 13, King James Version)

Commentary:
Last week, Saturday, April 3rd 2010 was very exciting, over two billion christians celebrated Easter Sunday on April 4th 2010. This is the day that our Lord and Saviour resurrected from the grave. Therefore Christians have a lot to be excited about because the Christ is the first born of the final resurrection, and the atonment that Jesus made on the cross is final. Unlike Judaism the atonment from redemption is final at the red sea and into the promise land. Many christians that are gentiles, look at the spiritual or the physical crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the cross as a sign of everlasting life.


Saturday, April 3rd 2010 was also the sabbath after the crossing of the Red Sea, the exodus from Egypt, out of the house of Bondage. In a sanctuary that I was in I listened to Exodus 33, which takes place around the third time that Moses goes to the holy Mountain of God, Mount Sinai for 40 dyas, on the 1st of Elulu 2448. He bequest God's forgiveness for the golden calf, and the worshippers of golden gods. Moses comes down from the holy mountain, Mount Sinai on the 10th day of Tishei (Tishrei) which is Yom Kippur, however, the Tabernacle is inaugurated on the 1st day of Nisan. Moses tent is called the Tent of Meetings. Moses seeks God assurance and favor to go before the children of Israel into the promise land. In verse twenty-two of the thirty-third book of Exodus, God says to Moses, saying " ²²And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: (Exodus 33:22, King James Version).

So we now know that not only are the Israelites observing God's glory, but at no time in the history of the Religion has anyone seen the face of God, not even on the cross at Golgotha.  In addition to wanting to see God's glory, Moses ask that God's people would be distinct from the other people of other Nations, so when you hear a person say that they will work their salvation out for theirself, hopefully they are saying that they are lay and will be their own Priest, or Pastor. Although Moses spoke to God face to face, he wanted to know more about God, he wanted to see God's face and need reassurance that he would behold God's spectacular glory.

Leviticus 13:1-46 - The law of leprosy


When a man has a sore on the skin of his body, then he shall be brought to the priest. The person that has a sore on his body that looks like the plague of leprosy shall be brought to Aaron and Sons. Then the priest shall examine the sore on the skin of his body to determine whether or not it is leprous. A man that has a leprous sore on his skin is pronounced unclean by the priest (Leviticus 13:3,9). The preist shall also examine scab to determine if the sore has spreadon the skin, if the scab has spread on the skin then the priest shall pronounce him unclean (Leviticus 13:8). The priest shall examine an old leprosy and determine whether or not it has spread all over the body (Leviticus 13:11). The priest shall pronounce the person clean that has leprous skin that turns white (Leviticus 13:7).


However the person that has a sore on his shall be examine by the priest, and the priest shall decide wehter or not to isolate the non-leprous sore for at least seven days. On the seventh day, the priest shall examine the sore to determine if the sore has spread on the skin, and shall isolate him another seven days. Then the priest shall examine him again on the seventh day; and indeed if the sore has fade, and the sore and the also scab has not spread on the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean (Leviticus 13:8,12-14). The priest shall examine him, the person with the raw flesh, and the leoprosy that has spreaded and covered his entire boy to determine if the flesh has changed and turned white, the the priest shall pronounce him clean who has the sore. (Leviticus 13:17).


If the body develops a boil in the skin, and it is healed, , and swells or looks like a bright spot then he shall show the boil to the priest; and the priest shall examine to determine if the boil is a leprous sore (Leviticus 13:18-20). The priest shall examine the boil and if the sore has spread all over the boy, it is a leprous sore and the priest shall pronounce him unclean. However, the priest shall pronounce him clean, if the scar from the boil does not spread, or stays in one place (Leviticus 13:22).


If the body receives a burn on the skin by fire, then the priest shall examine the skin and indeed if the hair of the birght spot has turned white, and it appears deeper than the skin - he has a leoprosy sore, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean, and isolate him for atleast seven days (Leviticus 13:25-27). A priest shall pronounce him clean if the the burnt mark swells and also stays in one splace and does not spread (Leviticus 13:28).


If a woman or man has asore on the head or the beard, then the priest shall examine the sore to determine whether or not it is a scaly leprosy. Like the old leprosy, the priest shall examine the scaly sore and shall isolate him for seven days. The priest shall examine the sore of the scaly leoprosy and if the scale has not spread; then he shall shave himself, but shall not shave the scale; and the priest shall isolate him yet another seven days (Leviticus 13:29-33).


And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the scab: and, then the priest shall determine whether or not to pronounce him clean: and if he is clean than he shall wash his clothes, and be clean (Leviticus 13:34,37). On the contrast if the leprous scab spread throughout the skin after his cleansing; then the priest shall determine whether or not he is unclean (Leviticus 13:35-36).


If a man also or a woman have in the skin of their flesh bright spots, even white bright spots; 39then the priest shall determine if the skin has a freckled spot the skin; he is clean (Leviticus 13:38).


A man that loses his hair and it is fallen off his head, he is bald; yet is he clean (Leviticus 13:40). A man that has his hair falling off from the part of his head toward his face, and his forehead is bald: he is clean. The man that has a bald head, or bald forehead, a white reddish sore; it is a leprosy sprung up in his bald head, or his bald forehead (Leviticus 13:41-42).


Then the priest shall determine whether or not the plague in the head is unclean then the leprous man is unclean; and then the priest shall pronounce him unclean (Leviticus 13:43-44).


The man that is a leper, and is contaminated with the leprous plague shall rent his clothes, and bare his bald head, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. He shall be defiled all the days that the leprous plague shall be in him; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; and he shall not dwell in the habitation of the camp (Leviticus 13:45-46).

Leviticus 13:47-58 - The law of the plague of leprosy in a garment


The garment that is plague by leprosy shall be shown to the priest: The priest shall isolate the plague for seven days: The priest shall examine the plague on the seventh day to determine if the plague has spread, and if the priest determines that the plague has spread in the garment; then the plague is a fretting leprosy and the garment is unclean (Leviticus 13:47-51).


The person with the garment that is has leprous on it shall burn that garment, or anything of skin, wherever the plague is: for it is a fretting leprosy; it shall be burnt in the fire. On the contrast, if the priest shall determine that the plague did not spread in the garment; then the priest shall command that they wash the thing wherein the plague is, and the priest shall shut it up seven days more: The priest shall examine the plague after that it is washed: and, determine if the plague is yet still unclean; if the leper garment is still plagued then it shall be burned in the fire Leviticus 13:52-57).


Finally, the priest shall examine the garment after the leper washes it, and if the plague be departed from them, then it shall be washed the second time, and shall be clean. This is the law of the plague of leprosy in a garment of woollen or linen, either in the warp, or woof, or anything of skins (leather), to pronounce it clean, or to pronounce it unclean (Leviticus 13:58-59).

Jesus' professional ministry is awesome, he knew no sin. Jesus is the first born of the resurrection; and He is the firstborn of the first fruits that is the work of God (John 6:29).  Jesus eradicated the plague of leprosy, while in Galillee.  Jesus sacrificed his life for me, and gave me a happy day. I rejoin Jesus, he fulfills the scriptures. Jesus blood on the cross cleanses me from sin and unrighteousness, and delivers me from the penalty of sin. I shall receive forgiveness of sins, because the Apostle aul says, consider the Apostle and the High Priest of my (your name here) faith (Hebrews 3:1).

In the world today, there is no one who really listens to the word of God. In this, we find the Messiah, if we would just listen and believe everything would be transformed until the final day, here on earth. Many of us hope for resurrection in a physical form on earth and to be reunited with our love ones; and the recompense of all the wrongs made right at judgment. News flash, unless God takes free will away from you, the ultimate peace comes at the end of time. Meanwhile, you must know that Jesus Christ fulfills His word, in the scriptures from the bible about the coming Messiah. It is quite possible that the only way to behold the Messiah is through death of this physical body. The world would come to a complete stop if God removed sin from the world. What is so special about me, that people hate me because of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Jesus sat before the Sanhedrin and said this for me, "But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven" (Matthew 26:64).

Jesus is all that I aspire to be, in this life. I know that I must be born again, which means a child like faith, willing to learn the word of God, which doesn't readily open itself up to you. I wish I would have been able to see him face to face, in AD30. Although I am not Jesus, and so I asked that you respect that standard that I have set for myself, and do not bring me perversion, just as I may not be able to forgive you or give you a healing in the name of Jesus.


In the Memorial portion of Tazria, the person is plagued with leoprosy. Jesus says all you have to do is believe and he will heal you and you will receive forgiveness of sins. The person who is plagued no longer has to purify him or herself, but shall shall repeant and be healed. I always tell people, don't show your perversion to me, show your perversion to Jesus. He will heal you and forgive you of all of your sins. I look at what the Bible says about the Messiah, and how he organized the lost sheep of Israel, and I know Jesus fulfilled the scripture. Jesus is the ensign, so I encurage you to take the Passover, next Easter and visit the land of Israel.


In conclusion, Jesus is an ideal model that will talk to you, if you don't prophecy. He is the first and last - heavenly messenger, he is I am (John 8). During the time that the Christ walked the earth he went throughout Israel spreading the gospel, the good news that the Kingdom is at hand, that mean healing and peace can truely be attainable, if we would only believe. Far from reality with all the war. Matthew 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. Matthew 9:36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd (Numbers 27:15 and Deuteronomy 31:2; Deuteronomy 29; 2nd Kings 21:22; 2nd Chronicles 34:26; and Isaiah 57:19). Faith in Jesus leads to reconciliation and healing (Matthew 13:15; Leviticus 13; Matthew 23:26; Luke 4:29; James 4:8; and 2nd Kings 23:17-20).

So the gospel is the Power of God's Spirit (Luke 4:14), and Jesus is glorified in the synagogues by preaching, the Kingdom of God is at hand (Matthew 9:35). For instance, Jesus once cast out unclean spirits from a spiritually afflicted man. He was asked to leave because he made damage to the pork industry, but still the man is free of the mental illness (Matthew 8:30-32). Jesus  Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God is at hand, a relevant message, the last message for the Latter Day Saints in 2010. When Jesus walked the earth, you did not need scrips or staves, because the bridegroom was with them. Jesus manifested the gosepl by teaching; preaching; healing and cleansing; and resurrecting the dead:

1. teaching - Jesus professional ministry, authority and doctrine;
2. preaching - the Kingdom of God is at hand; the throne of God; and ministering to the poor;
3. healing - all manner of sickness and all manner of disease (sick), blind, lame, deaf;
4. cleansing - unclean spirits; casting out devils (unclean spirits); and casting out lepers; and
5. resurrecting the dead.

My favorite song, the lyrics, "I don't know why Jesus loves me. I don't know why Jesus cares. I don't know why Jesus even sacrifice his life for me. Oh but I am glad. So glad he did."
