Genesis 28: Jacob's Ladder

Memorial Parsha of Vayeitz

GENESIS 28: 1- 22

1And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

2Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughers of Laban thy mother's brother.

3And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

4And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.

5And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.

6When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, "Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughers of Canaan;"

7And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;

8And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

9Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

10And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

11And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

12And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

13And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, "Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not."

17And he was afraid, and said, "How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."

18And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

19And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

20And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, "If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

21So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

22And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee." (Genesis 28, King James Version)

Recommended Verse:

Malachi 3:6
6For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

7Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

8Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. (Malachi 3:6-8, King James Version)

Memorial Parsha Vayeitz: The teachings of Jesus Christ

Matthew 13:1-58

1The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

2And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

3And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, "Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

4And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

5Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

6And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

8But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear."

10And the disciples came, and said unto him, "Why speakest thou unto them in parables?"

11He answered and said unto them, "Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, 'By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.'

16But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

18Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

20But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

22He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

23But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

24Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, 'Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?'

28He said unto them, 'An enemy hath done this.' The servants said unto him, 'Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?'

29But he said, 'Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn'." (Matthew 13, King James Version)

In closing, I believe that Jacob was unsure what to do with the dream that he had. I also believe that Jacob wanted more than anything to believe that he was not alone but God is the Lord of his life - even as it relates to property and prosperity for your posterity.

Most of all Jacob was patient in waiting for his blessing from the Lord, one that he thought was reasonable, after all a blessing is something we don't deserve. Therefore, I will bless the name of the Lord at all times.

Nevertheless, Jacob made a vow if God would be the Lord of his life. If you remember Abraham went to Salem to receive a blessing from King Melchizdek, the priest of the most High God, the LORD. So it is very reasonable, that Jacob would tithe all that he had through faith, since his faith from this point on would allow him to acquire the material wealth in the world. However you will see when we wrap up Vayislach that Jacob again tithes to the LORD God.

Have a blessed day. I hope you have enjoyed the teachings of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Jacob travels to his ancestral lands and finds a wife

Memory Scripture: Genesis 29:18-22

1Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.

2And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well's mouth.

3And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place.
4And Jacob said unto them, "My brethren, whence be ye?" And they said, "Of Haran are we."
5And he said unto them, "Know ye Laban the son of Nahor?" And they said, "We know him."
6And he said unto them, "Is he well?" And they said, "He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep."

7And he said, "Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them."

8And they said, "We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep."

9And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep; for she kept them. 10And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.

11And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

12And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son: and she ran and told her father.

13And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told
Laban all these things.
14And Laban said to him, "Surely thou art my bone and my flesh." And he abode with him the space of a month.
15And Laban said unto Jacob, "Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?"
16And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.

17Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.

18And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, "I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter."
19And Laban said, "It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me."

20And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.

21And Jacob said unto Laban, "Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her."

22And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.

23And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.

24And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.

25And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, "What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?"

26And Laban said, "It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn. 27Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years."

28And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him 'Rachel' his daughter to wife also.

29And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.

30And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years. (Genesis 29, King James Version)
32And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name 'Reuben': for she said, "Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me."
33And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, "Because the LORD hath heard I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name 'Simeon'."

34And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, "Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi."

35And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, "Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name 'Judah'; and left bearing."

The next lesson will be about Jacob's dream. The lesson is entitled, "Jacob's Ladder," and is also taken from the Memorial Portion of Vayeitzei Parsha - in Chapter 28 of the Book of Genesis (Beresheit). All lessons commentaries from the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Prophets, i.e. Isaiah, Ezekial, Jeremiah and Elijah etc. In the lesson called "Jacob's Ladder, we will supply the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ that corraborate the dream Jacob had about the Kingdom of Heaven. The descendants of Jacob, contend with the land around Zared Brook, which is was once the land of Ideameu (the Edomites, the descendants of Esau); and Jesus taught that His Kingdom is the Kingdom of God and that it was not divided His Kingdom.

Dear God, we read your word and it says that Moses would put on a veil to protect the countenance of his face because he had beheld your Glory. I want to be like that and I pray that you will show me your glory. I will take the side, the back side or anything that you give me because I know that you are just and true.

Exodus Chapter Thirty-four: The Radiant Face of Moses

Verse 29) When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. Verse 30) When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. Verse 31) But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. Verse 32) Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the LORD had given him on Mount Sinai.
Verse 33) When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. Verse 34) But whenever he entered the LORD's presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, Verse 35) they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the LORD.

Caleb had a different spirit

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron: 27 "How long will this wicked community grumble against me? I have heard the complaints of these grumbling Israelites. 28 So tell them, 'As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you the very things I heard you say: 29 In this desert your bodies will fall—every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me. 30 Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun. 31 As for your children that you said would be taken as plunder, I will bring them in to enjoy the land you have rejected. 32 But you—your bodies will fall in this desert. 33 Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the desert. 34 For forty years—one year for each of the forty days you explored the land—you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.' 35 I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will surely do these things to this whole wicked community, which has banded together against me. They will meet their end in this desert; here they will die."

Can't wait to see you there....

What's in your family tree (wallet or addy)

I never got to post because the facebook application was not working for me, talking about bugs and kinks.

The application allows me to do research that reveal the unique personality of the Sons of Aaron (Genesis 46:11). I am learning that the unique distinction and personality of the Sons of Aaron begins, historically, as first recorded in the King James Version of the Bible. The King James Version of the Bible is the preferred method for people of Scottish Descent (Genesis 47:22). The Sons of Aaron went on to be fathers of Nations and as the story goes that there is a horizontal descent or ascent of aristocracy. Famous monarchies under the Sons of Aarons are Queen Anne of Scotland and the list goes on to moiré.

In doing my research, I found that McGowan was also a very established name in Scotland under the MacDonald Clan, but I am not sure which isle that some families come from. Nevertheless, I am from Alexander, in Glengarry Scotland. In short, the priest comes from the House of the Levites, a Priestly house. Therefore, the Levites were already giving the government revenue for their yield (government, family and marriage, church are the institutions that God created. God also created, oil, water, wind and fire, which are four of the five elements that people observe). When an entity does not give the government reverence and respect then it is time to get your own country.

God is good because in Chapters 45 through 46, it is subtly shows how the people are entangled into bondage. The bondage physically is caused by a famine in the land

In closing, I wish all of you well and good blessings in all of your endeavors; a blessing goes a long way

Very interesting please read:

I know that these prophecies were given well before they ever
occurred, and that this person has been so accurate with what
he says is going to happen. It's a gift from God, undoubtedly!
This link will take you to a food shortage prophecy, and a list
of 23 other events that have or are occurring.

If you want to know what's going to happen as yet, this link
takes you to a page that contains all the prophecies which
have yet come to pas. I'm not saying they are good things,
because they're not something anyone can look forward to,
but they are from a righteous God who is judging this nation.
It's a wake up call for us as individuals, but

How do we deny ourselves for Christ sake?
1. Conform to Christ image. We are not to seek our own will but
God's will.We should not live according to this world.
2. Walk as Jesus walked. We are to do things and walk in ways that
Jesus walked.1 John 2:6.
3. Lay aside every weight. We should put aside everything that is
hindering us from following Christ e.g politics, worldly modelling
shows, some form of entertainment and many others. All these can make you
go astray and fail to do God's will.
4. Live not for self but unto God.Things such as "I want,I will,I
shall,I desire" need to be crucified.
5. Seek not after our own hearts.Numbers 15:39.Some of our desires
go against God's will, for example, shun watching your favourite TV
show like Sports and tune to a Christian program, attend a bible study

Walk in the Spirit

Preached by: April Hunt

October 27th, 2008

Key Scripture: "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh" (Galatians 5:16, KJV)

Introduction

Paul wrote to the Galatian Christians to encourage them to make a proper response to the Holy Spirit that they might not live on the level of their lower nature. He informed them of the struggle that would continue between the Spirit of God, who came into their hearts at the time of conversion, and the lower nature with its sinful appetites

Galatians. 5:17 – 21(NLT) 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

It was his earnest desire that they experience the full harvest of the fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5: 22-24 (NLT) But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

That they might be assured of such, he encouraged them to "walk in the Spirit."

I. To walk implies progress.

It is not the will of God that we remain as we are or where we are. God would have us to walk forward toward maturity and fruitfulness.

Walking also implies that we are moving in a forward direction. You've never heard of anyone "walking" when they are standing still, right? In order to walk we need to actually be moving in a forward direction. Step by step, we move! That is what God expects from us. We must "walk". Never stand still!

II. To walk implies direction.

God would not have us to go backward from our task and our opportunities. Neither would he have us to walk in aimless circles. By his Spirit he would lead us in the paths of righteousness and fruitfulness as he led Paul. We read how the Holy Spirit guided his walk: "Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia, after they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas"

Acts 16:6 – 8 (NLT)  6 Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. 7 Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia,[a] but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. 8 So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas.

The Holy Spirit will guide our walk in a similar manner if we are sensitive and responsive to his leadership.

III. Walking in the Spirit.

There are at least five ways in which we know the Spirit wants us to walk. We can count on Him to assist us in every way possible.

A.The Holy Spirit will help us to walk worthy of our Christian calling

Ephesians 4:1 (NLT) Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

B.The Spirit will help us to walk differently from the unsaved

Ephesians 4: 17 (NLT) With the Lord's authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.

C. The Spirit will help us to walk in love

Ephesians 5:2 (NLT) Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us[a] and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

D.    The Spirit will help us to walk as the children of light

Ephesians 5:8 (NLT) For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!

E. The Spirit will help us to walk in wisdom

Ephesians 5:15 (NLT) So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise.

Conclusion

The Holy Spirit dwells in the heart of the believer. He is as close to you as your breath. By faith recognize His presence. Respond to His leadership, and walk forward into the future with courage and cheer, for God has wonderful things in store for you if you seek to "walk in the Spirit."

Today's Scripture *October 31, 2008*

Psalm 25: 14
The Lord is a friend to those who fear him.
      He teaches them his covenant.

"The LORD is a friend to those who fear him".
God offers intimate and lasting friendship to those who revere Him, who hold Him in highest honor.
What relationship could ever compare with having the Lord of all creation for a friend?
Your everlasting friendship with God will grow as you respect and honor Him.

Father God, as most the known world celebrates and participates this day in the pagan holiday of Halloween, we ask that we would be set apart and shine brightly for You in a dark world. May we long to have an eternal friendship with You and work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We love You Lord! We long to be Your children! Your friends! May we rejoice in knowing that we are friends of God! In Your Name, Amen..

Bless You as You shine brightly for God!
In His Service,
April
