Deuteronomy 1:1-8– The Command to Leave Horeb

The LORD god commanded you to go up the land that you are given, but you rebelled. How did the children of Israel parents rebelled? This is a good question, because by the time we finish this memorial Parsha, the children of the generation after the Exodus of the Egypt do everything that Moses commands Joshua, and fear and obey Joshua all the days of his life. This generation faces giants, and goes into the land that the LORD God is giving them. Of course something happened because the children of Israel are presently in exile and are not occupying all of their land. Nevertheless, the children of Israel did not take the value of word of God, and murmured ludicrous sayings because they were discouraged by the negative report of their brethren. (Numbers 14:1-4). Caleb and Joshua never had a doubt that they could overcome the people perceived to be tall people (Anakims) and the inhabitants in their fortified cities. (Numbers 13:21; Deuteronomy 1:28, 36, 38).

Moses comforts the people, by encouraging the people to always be courageous because God will go before you and shall fight for you, and God shall fight for you. Yet the children of Israel did not understand God and what he had already done for them. The children of Israel had no clue of the God of Israel and did not understand that God had delivered them from Egypt, the house of bondage, and at each station in the wilderness (Exodus 14:14, 25). Moses accuses the peoples of not believing in the LORD God. Jesus taught that he did not come to accuse anyone.


The rebellion causes Moses and Aaron, the servants of the Most High God, to be disallowed to enter the Promise land, the land of Canaan. Caleb and Joshua are the only remaining men from their evil generation that were required to enter the land; because Caleb wholly followed the LORD God; and Joshua would require that the children of Israel would enter into the promised land; he would cause the children of Israel to enter in the land of Canaan. (Numbers 14:24-30; 1st Samuel 16:22; Joshua 3:9-13; Joshua 4:14-18; Joshua 10:12-14; Joshua 14:6-15; Deuteronomy 1:36).


Then Moses accuses them of leaving their little ones for prey, that had no knowledge of good and evil; but the children of the rejected generation shall enter into the promise land. God shall give the land to the children of Israel to possess. (Numbers 14:31). On the contrast, the adults were commanded to turn into the wilderness by the way of the Sea to wonder in the wilderness’ deserts for forty years yet the children of Israel lacked for nothing. The rebellious went up unto the hill without the protection of God, and were destroyed by the Amorites because they went against the commandment of the LORD. (Psalm 118:12; Deuteronomy 1:40-46).


Deuteronomy 1: 19-23 – Spies sent out

To conclude, chapter one of the books of Deuteronomy, Moses preaches the journey of the wilderness for the children of Israel that the people would not understand how to inhabit the land that the LORD is giving them. It is very important you don’t try to inhabit the land without the word of the LORD. Each of us are uniquely exiled from our native lands and territories and God we pray will bring us back into our rightful homes. Here the Messiah is prepared to come back into the world many of us will hope to go back to our natural homelands, but we must know who is in power and shall not come back into power because he is the son of perdition. It is very simple to inhabit the land, follow all of Gods’ commandments and all of God’s judgments, which the LORD God commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel, this is his commandment to a particular people on the day that he told them, you have to get out of this mountain and go home, to a land that I promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Deuteronomy 1:6). Many people are converting to go to the land of Canaan. Unless you know exactly what you are doing then be careful about returning to the land of your forefathers, this goes straight across the board for any nationality, kindred and tongue of people. I would need to use precaution to return to North Africa, North Carolina, and Scotland… it is just not that simple when the beast seizes your land. (Isaiah 60:15-19).


In 2010, the former occupied lands of the Soviet Union are persecuting anyone who wants to return Israel, who doesn’t worship the best. The Book of Revelation is a companion book for the first chapter in the book of Deuteronomy and describes the beast as a ‘leopard’ which could possibly be the nation of Russia. In recent weeks, Russia has been revealed to have sent spies to America to challenge the Cold War policies; and next may want to stop conversion and immigration into the Holy Land. Many political leaders threaten to challenge their former citizen’s exodus from the land. The water that the prostitute sits is a nation, not limited to Russia who may want to stop you from returning to Israel. The woman is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth. (Revelations 17:15-18).


Moses commanded Joshua to know that his eyes have seen the power of the LORD God: and he will do unto any kingdom that you pass. (Numbers 27:18; Deuteronomy 3:21). Only Joshua is commanded to be courageous and fearless; and let the LORD God that shall fight for you lead the way because this battle is not yours it is the just the beginning of the LORD God’s fight for you.


Deuteronomy 1: 26-43 – Rebellion against the LORD God

Finally, we end the Memorial Parsha with Moses recanting how he begged the LORD God to go into the promise land. The LORD God was angry for the sake of Israel at Moses and Aaron, because of the rebellion, the tempting of God’s wrath and the disobedience. (Moses 20:12; Deuteronomy 3:25-27). After Moses could only look at the promise land from the boundaries, east, west, north and south at mount Pisgah, but could not over the Jordan River onto the side of Jordan. Nevertheless, Joshua comforted Moses by encouraging him and strengthening him, his former teacher that he would cause the children of Israel to inherit the land, promised to their forefathers. Joshua fulfilled the prophecy and caused the children of Israel to inherit the land that Moses shall see, while they abode in the mount at the Baal-peor. (Numbers 25:1-3). The children of Israel were successful in getting their inheritance because the enemy was not a good leader for the right reasons, the enemy was very abominable and did lose his kingdom; and he shall utterly be destroyed. The son of Perdition will go to perdition; this is the ultimate destruction when he comes from out of the abyss. The church has many functions but one of the functions is to keep the son of Perdition from rearing his seven heads, with ten horns. He shall be angry with you and he will not hire you, nor will he serve you and he will make preferential difference against you; whether or not you pass through the land or he takes your land. On the contrast, the son of Perdition has one purpose and this is to be destroyed so pay attention to your leaders, especially the leaders that want to divide Jerusalem and go before the House of David. The church, we have a permanent High Priest and through him you can go to the throne of God. Nevertheless, don’t worry about people being angry because the saints will overcome blaspheme, the saints can repent and possess the land. (1 John 5:5; John 16:33).

John 16:20-33 -
