1And the LORD spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the LORD, and died;
2And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
3Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
4He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.
5And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
6And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.
7And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
8And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
9And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
10But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
11And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:
12And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:
13And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:
14And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
15Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
16And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
17And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.
18And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
19And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
20And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:
21And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
22And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
23And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:
24And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.
25And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.
26And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.
27And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
28And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
29And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
30For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD. (Leviticus 16, King James Version)

COMMENTARY: Leviticus Chapter 16
In this double Memorial Portion Acharei Mot-Keodshim, the Christian too may find that there is a two-fold multi-diversified theme going on in the scriptures. The first is right in your face, with the death of Aaron's sons' Nadab and Abihu made a fatal mistake in worship the one and True God. I know that you are proud Christians, and many of you are very happy with your nationality and your ethnicity. However, it appeared that Abihu and Nadab had followed God's commandment as given to Moses, the word of God - up until this point; the two brothers made a fatal mistake that had dire consequences. God's word is good. According to the Apostle John all of the Levites that were brought out to minister to the LORD in Mount Sinai will be restored to their families in the book of Revelations Chapter Seven, this is the wisdom of God, this is the word of God.
Earlier in the book of Leviticus we are visiting the eighth day after the Passover, and headed into Shavuot or known as Pentecost. To the Apostle Peter, this was a great day for the church because the Jewish people were expected the return of all of the diaspora, one at a time. Many people did return and received the gift of the Holy Spirit; therefore, the people were quenched with the fire of God and spoke in tongues and could understand each other with one heart and one mind and most importantly it was apparent the tongues were one. The miracle God bestowed on the Jewish diaspora was very amazing and beautiful, not since the fall of the first tower of Babylon had a group of people assembled together under one tongue (1st Corinthians 12:28; Acts 2:4,5; Matthew 3:11; Luke 11:13 and Acts 1:5).
In the previous Memorial Parsha, Tazria-Metzora, we read that the book of Leviticus is really not boring. The book of Leviticus gives instructions on the rituals performed to rid the plagues and diseases from Egypt. However, if you look at the world today, there are so many diseases that plague people. Here in the book of Leviticus we read about people who about a people who have already received the redemption of the LORD, they are the firstborn of Israel. The people of Israel are the apple of His eye, and receive gift of Grace, the anointing and atonement. As a matter of fact the nations have now and did then still have chronic problems of plague: terminal diseases. However, in the previous Memorial Parsha called, Tazria-Metzora the atonement is made for the sin offering, which is a compulsorary commandment when you committed a sin. Aaron made atonement for himself, his household and the entire congregation of people. Today, redemption and atonement will be made for you. As a matter of fact, I am going out on radical faith that God will use a chosen vessel to deliver a blessing of propserity in the form of healing in your purse or in your body of health: sanctification (1st Thessalonias 5:16; Revelations 1:7; Hebrew 13:12; and Ephesians 1:7). As a matter of fact, if the book of Leviticus is so boring then why are there so many diseases claiming the lives of people everyday, that are epidemics as Moses prophecied as the spiritual but not the final and ultimate consequences of sin, Deuteronomy 29.
Nevertheless, before we can leave the eighth day it is important to remember that the command is given to Moses, and then to us in the word of God that Aaron shall come to the Holy Place once a year, per Exodus 30:10. The word of God says that Aaron was required to offer continuall and dialy after death of his children, Abhihu and Naavida, but I don't think that it was the Atonement. I think that after culmination of the voluntary burnt offerings i.e., sin offerings and burnt offerings. The wave offering in the Tazria-Metzora caused supernatural healing in the congregation of the people, so that they may be made whole in their afflictions.
There is so much to say about this chapter, but commandments are given and reiterated in the Memorial Parsha of Vayakhei-Pekudai. I am really surprised that people would think the book of Leviticus is boring with all the rampant and viral diseases that are in the world. As Moses would say that atonement shall be made for the congregation of people. Moses also warned that the consequences of failing to perform this law would be disease and war - that the nations would not hesitate to give you evil for your deeds. Now you can see why there are so many broken homes, plagues of diseases because you have to bring light into the world and you have to step up in your faith to your One and True God (Exodus 29:36; and Exodus 30:10; Leviticus 16:18; Leviticus 23:27; Leviticus 16:29 : Leviticus 23:27; Num 29:7 Leviticus 23:32; Psalm 35:13; Isa 58:3, 5; Dan 10:12; Leviticus 17:15; 18:26; 19:34; Exodus 12:49).
However, as long as you cut the fool and go after the unbeliever like a harlot, then this is not setting a good example of the one law that should amicably demonstrated amongst friend and foe. Then the enemy is going to plague your land and he is going to rise, and the enemy can and will take over. Jesus taught that if we ask and obey God's commandments that he will give us all that we ask for abundantly. So when God gives you something don't get upset because the enemy has interferred because he will receive his reward of punishment in due time. Jesus loves mankind.
In closing, let us remember that Jesus did not wait until the day of atonement to heal. Jesus death on the cross is my atonement for all sicknesses and diseases and infirmities. Jesus did not wait until the day of atonement, many people were healed immediately of uncleanliness. For instance in the country side of Gardarenes, there was a man that could not be tamed that lived in tombs with an unclean spirit, he had been chained but no man could bind him. However as soon Jesus approached the man the unclean spirit falsely worship Jesus, giving him the highest tribute and confession that Jesus is the Son of the most high God (Mark 5:7). Jesus then commanded the evil spirit to come out of the man, but Jesus did not send the evil spirits away completely.
There is so much to say about this day Yom Kippur, the day of atonement that you must afflict yourself, and do no work. In America, this a very important day and many businesses are closed. In the ancient days the word of God says that Aaron shall wash his body, and after that he shall wear the holy garments (Exodus 28:2-3, Exodus 31:3,10; and Exodus 35:19). Moreover there is a continual fire, however he is reminded by God that the same tragic circumstances that occurred to his sons, Abihu and Navidad's died from smoke inhallation - at the wrath of God, can also happen to him if he brings anything to the altar of incense, on a day that is not commanded through Moses (Exodus 29:38-43; Exodus 25:22).
Aaron is commanded to come before the Holiest of Holy Places in the whole wide world. There is no one else who can eat the fat that is sat aside for God this is expressed as one of the reasons that people are cut off from their family - their people. The fat that is used in the wave offering is brought before God and shall not be used as human consumption (Leviticus 7:29; Leviticus 16:2; Exodus 29:24,27; and Deuteronomy 18:3).
Unlike Jesus ancestral predecessors, the man with the discharge is unclean and everything that he comes in contact is unclean until the evening. The priest shall make atonement for all the peoples of his household, himself and children of Israel. Nevertheless, the atonement for the situation is cleansed through the rituals, for the male and the female with issues of a discharge (Leviticus 15:19-30). The eighth day is the supernatural day because if you have faith that you are clean then the priest shall make atonement for you (Levititucs 15:16-18). The priest shall be sure to instruct the people to keep separate from their uncleanliness, and most importantly the people could not enter the tabernacle of God, pass the door of the meeting place if they were unclean, or else they would die (Leviticus 15:16-18,30-33).
