Memorial Parsha Vayikra - Levitics 1 through Levitics 5

The book of Leviticus One:

1And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.
3If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.
4And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.
5And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
6And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces.
7And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire:
8And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:
9But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
10And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish.
11And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.
12And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:
13But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
14And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons.
15And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar:
16And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:
17And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD. (Leviticus 1, King James Version)

Summary of Chapter One in the book of Leviticus:

Leviticus One: The Burnt Offering

God commands the Israelites at the hand of Moses, to bring a free will offering from either the herd or the flock. Moreover, the word of God came said to offer a burn sacrifice from either the herd or the flock. A burnt sacrifice from the herd shall be a male without blemish, such as a bull; or male without blemish such as a sheep or goat. A burnt sacrifice shall also come from the flock of either a turtle dove or a young pigeon.

The Israelites are commanded to bring a free will offering form either their herd or their flock. The offering for the atonement can be from the herd or the flock. However, the burnt offering from the herd or the flock shall be a male without defect. The free will offering of a herd or the flock be a burn sacrifice at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD, and then sprinkle the blood of the animal from the herd (Exodus 12:5; Leviticus 1:1-5; Exodus 19:3; Leviticus 3:2,8; Micah 6:8 and Isaiah 52:14-15). Then, the burnt sacrifice shall be burnt by the priest, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savior (Leviticus 1:6-8; Genesis 22:9; Leviticus 3:3,4 and Leviticus 7:23,24; Genesis 8:21).

The manner of the free will burn is expounded in this chapter, with great detail. The burnt sacrifice from the herd is exactly the same manner of the Passover sacrifice, which is a lasting ordinance, at twilight. Remember in today’s society children are still being mutilated and sacrificed at their host makeshift alters. The LORD of Hosts, He is God and there is no other god explicitly forbade any other sacrifice than the commandment to sacrifice a herd or a flock, as a burnt offering before the LORD, so that it will be acceptable to the LORD.

Each sacrifice of the free will offering had one method in common and that is that it is made by fire, and is a sweet aroma to the LORD (Leviticus 1:9,13,17). The flock was offered at the north side of the altar before the LORD (Leviticus 1:11). The herd was offered by the door of the tabernacle of the meeting (Leviticus 1:3). As you will see in this chapter, the animal is an instrument of God, not like the elements that are also instruments of God channeled through the heavens: fire, oil, wind and water. The animal is not a quintessential part of this paradigm but every animal that is a first born from the womb is part of the matrix.

The following scriptures are the Power of God, and are just a few of supporting scriptures about animals in the Bible. Then there is the cross reference of supporting scriptures. Remember there are more scriptures however; this is just a few relevant to the burnt offering sacrifice – per Chapter One of the book of Leviticus for the memorial portion of the disciple.
