Exodus 33
Meanwhile the pillar cloudy stood over the tabernacle door; and then all the people worshipped at their tent door. God visited the children of Israle and had looked upon their affliction. Moses prayed to God and asked Him to give him grace, and to let him know who He would send with him, and consider His people as a (sovereign) nation. He (God) quickly replies and says, "My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest." Moses wants to absolutely be sure that God will be with him more than just an early morning walk where there is an occassionally jacking. He know he needs the divine intervention of God to move pass Pharaoh and his servants, in Egypt. Moses knows this is going to be a battle to occupy and possess the land of Canaan, that shall be given as an inheritance to Israel.
In this chapter, the annointing continues, and the word of God is, "1And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
2And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: 3Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way."
In Chapter Thirty-three of the Book of Exodus, the people also heard the word of God and put away their ornaments while they were at the foot of Mount Horeb. Moses took the tabernacle and pitched it outside from the camp. However, the people that sought the LORD made the effort to travel to the tent. The people would stand and watch Moses until he went into the tabernacle, as a cloudy pillar had descended and stood at the door, the LORD traveled to the tent, called the Tabernacle of the congregation. The LORD talked with Moses faced to face like a good friend.
Next, Moses continues to ask God many questions to be assured that God is still determined go with him and His people. The word of God speaks unto Moses saying, "I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name." Therefore, Moses prayed to God that if he had found grace in the sight of the LORD, that he show him His way and His will. Moses then asked God if he had found grace in the sight of the LORD, that his people may be considered a nation, that is sovereign. Moses also said, that he wants God to show him God's glory. God responds that he will hasten to perform His word, by saying, "I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: 22And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: 23And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen."
In this chapter Moses also petitions God saying, "The covenant shall be known here, that I and your people have found grace in sight." At the moment, maybe Moses did not feel that his people could go up with the LORD's help, or right hand. Moses said that the people and he shall be separate from all the people that are upon the face of the earth (Exodus 33:17). Lastly, Moses asked God to show him the glory of God. God responded to Moses saying, "I will make all my goodness pass before thee. I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will show mercy" (Exodus 33:19).
Exodus 33: The Command to leave Mount Sinai (The Mountain of God)
1And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
2And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:
3Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.
4And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.
5For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.
6And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.
7And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.
8And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.
9And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
10And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.
11And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
12And Moses said unto the LORD, "See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people."
14And He said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
15And he said unto Him, "If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
16For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth."
17And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18And he said, "I beseech thee, shew me thy glory."
19And He said, "I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy."
20And he said, "Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live."
21And the LORD said, "Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen." (Exodus 33, King James Version)

12Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
13But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
14For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

32And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai.
33And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.
34But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.
35And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him. (Exodus 34:31-35, King James Version)
In this chapter, Moses creates another tablet; because he broke the first tablet with the Ten commandments. Then Moses went up to Mount Sinai, as God had commanded him with the new tablets - that he had broken in his fit of rage against the sinners.
The the LORD descended into the cloud and stood with Moses the LORD and hasten to perform His word, he proclaimed the name of the LORD (Exodus 34:6-7) .
6And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

Like the LORD, Moses hastened to make obsolescence to the LORD, to worship with his head bowed down toward the earth. Then Moses asked God to go among the stiff-necked people, and asked God to pardon the iniquity and sin, and take the people as an inheritance. God agreed and made a covenant, and the requirements consist of observing all the commandments.
In Chapter 35, Moses has come down from the mountain for forty days and forty nights. The children of Israel are at the foot of the mountain waiting for Moses to come down and tell them all that the LORD has commanded of them through Moses. God writes on the tablet, the ten words of the Ten Commandments, called the Ten Commandments.
In closing this chapter, let us remember that after Moses would behold the glory of God,he would wear a veil. Moses placed a veil on his face whenever he had spoken with the children of Israel. However, Moses would not take the veil off of his face, until he would leave from Mt. Sinai before the presence of God. Then Moses, he would place the veil on his face and speak with the children of Israel, regarding the commandments of the LORD. Yet the veil kept everyone from being afraid to see the skin on Moses face; and he would simultaneously speak with God (Exodus 34:29-35).
